Preliminary Task Evaluation
Preliminary Task Evaluation:
In this Preliminary Task, I produced a college magazine with a medium close up photograph of my own. The program which I used to publish my very own magazine was DTP (Page plus) due to it being very capable of making a magazine with a lots of features such as editing in logo studio. This program was very useful at the end of the day because it helped me in variety of ways.
The Preliminary Task has made me learn new skills and abilities, I learnt what is a masthead and how it should be represented in my magazine, I also learn how big my main image should be to catch the audience’s attention compared to a smaller picture which isn’t really as important. I also learnt how important the colour, layout is due to it targeting a specific audience. My magazine is targeting students since it’s represented in some bright colours such as Red. I have used several different ways of publishing my magazine which I learnt in this Preliminary Task, and these are, masthead, logo, puff, main image, secondary images, main cover line, bar code, slogan and taking photos in very different camera shots which in this case I used a medium close up. These are very important for a magazine and a perfect magazine can rarely be produced without these.
My magazine was called ‘College Media’; I used the word ‘college’ to target a specific audience which in this case is students. The slogan I used is just to make it very specific why is the magazine made and why is it made in this way. I used the appropriate pictures which suits my magazine such as my main image which is showing me holding a book and cheering symbolising that I have passed and it is your go (the audience) which can create a very big impact on the students. I used a logo to make my magazine stand out and let the audience know it’s been created by me, I also used a bubble speech saying ‘I PASSED’ reinforcing to the students what I am really after. The puff I used which says ‘FREE poster inside!’ is to catch even more attention. My main cover lines along with the images are very largely representing my magazine since I used a picture with me looking upwards to the sky with a text saying ‘VERY HIGH EXPECTIONS’. Finally, I used a price tag and bar code to let the audience know how much it will be costing them to purchase one of my magazines.
I personally think I have learnt and accomplished all these ways of producing a magazine and my final product is great and it will be helping me with my future need.
